MEEUP研究的8个阶段说明如下：
-产品定义(product definition)：说明在欧盟相关标准、法规及标示等之分类。
-经济与市场分析(economic and market analysis)：包括市场与存货数据(产品数量是否达到1年超过200,000单位的销售量)、市场趋势及消费者使用形态与数量等。
-消费者行为与地区基础设施(consumer behavior and local infrastructure)：产品的使用形态与废弃后的处理方式、地区基础设施是否可以维修或更换零件的方式来延长产品使用寿命。
-现有产品的技术分析(technical analysis of existing products)：分析产品的组成(含BOM)、制造、分布、使用及废弃。
-基本案例评估(assessment of the base case)：EUP EcoReport结果中，以目前环境冲击为平均量之产品当案例，评估其生命周期成本(Life Cycle Costs, LCC)、欧盟消费者的总年度支出等。
-最佳实用技术分析(Technical analysis of Best Available Technology, BAT)：最佳实用技术和次佳实用技术的分析、定义以应用到设计之选择。
-改善空间(improvement potential)：在EUP EcoReport中，评估其涉及的花费与环境绩效改善改善空间。可依据环境指标的冲击与涉及的费用，做设计选择之排序。
-情境、政策、冲击及敏感度分析(scenario, policy, impact and sensitivity analysis)：适合的政策是指达到应用LCC与BAT分析目标的结果、情境，包括达到环境目标与环境冲击减少的社会花费等。
MEEuP目前已完成了10种产品之试作，并完成其相关研究报告：MEEuP Methodology Report、MEEuP Product Cases Report、MEEUP Project Report。这10种产品分别为：
锅炉(CH boilers)
室内冷气机(room air conditioners)
循环泵浦(circulator pumps)
街道照明(street lighting)
冰箱(refrigerators)
洗碗机(dishwashers)
吸尘器(vacuum cleaners)

先期研究

有方法论后，即可开始进行EuP之先期研究。先期研究为收集个别产品需要的数据，且使用MEEUP来评估产品是否适用于实施方法，并与利害相关者进行协商。在经过11~12个月左右的研究后，会完成实施方法的提案。目前受执委会委托进行14类产品先期研究的团体、相关网址、所需研究的时间、以及研究进度整理如下：
